Williams Legato IV Enhanced Speaker Construction

Ported Speakers With Resonant Sound

Unlike some digital pianos that deliver uninspiring sounds through very basic speakers, the Legato IV offers a truly immersive experience through a completely redesigned and upgraded audio system. Each speaker has two drivers (a woofer and a tweeter) in order to present a broad frequency spectrum that reproduces every subtle detail of the music. But there’s even more to the audio story. The speakers are enclosed in onboard resonant spaces that are ported—just like professional studio monitors and PA cabinets—in order to produce warm yet taut bass with increased volume. The Legato IV’s sound output is further enhanced by DSP tuning. So, you don’t just hear the pianos, organs, bass and strings—you feel them.

Williams Legato IV Onboard Sounds

12 Onboard Sounds

The centerpiece of the Legato IV is a gorgeous Italian concert grand piano. Recorded in a professional studio at various dynamic levels, this celebrated piano sound is as real as it gets—especially as the Legato IV’s velocity-sensitive keyboard precisely translates all the drama in your performances when you play soft, loud and everything in between. However, the Legato IV isn’t simply an incredible keyboard for aspiring classical and jazz pianists, or even fans of pop rockers such as Elton John and Lady Gaga. With 11 additional sounds, you can choose from a bright acoustic piano, two vintage electric pianos, two organs, strings, acoustic and electric bass, vibraphone and choir. The Legato IV includes many of the basic keyboard sounds you’d need to play most styles of music, and, as a creative engine for songwriters, it stands at the ready to inspire new songs. Even if your imagination goes beyond organic keyboard sounds, the Legato IV has you covered. You can craft evocative new tones using onboard effects such as 2-band EQ, reverb, chorus and rotary speaker. There are 12 onboard demo songs to study if your creativity needs a bit of a nudge, and a metronome for locking in your tempos.

Williams Legato IV Bluetooth Audio and MIDI

Bluetooth Audio, MIDI and USB

The Legato IV digital piano offers comprehensive connectivity to expand your enjoyment, exploration and education. Bluetooth audio plays sound from music tracks and videos through the Legato IV’s speakers, so you can jam along with your favorite songs and dig into YouTube lessons and other educational materials. In addition, Bluetooth MIDI is on hand to wirelessly access teaching apps, such as the Williams app and the included trial period of Skoove Platinum piano lessons. Go further by using the built-in USB audio/MIDI interface to connect with computers, DAWs and tablets. For jamming with friends and songwriting sessions with other players, the Legato IV has stereo/mono line out jacks for plugging into a keyboard amp, powered speaker or PA system.
