Kluson Icon Vintage 62 Precision Bass Pickup When introduced in 1957, the split-P pickup was a breakthrough in ways. Besides having two individual pickups, each assigned to a pair of strings the P-Bass pickup was unique also because it had two pole pieces per string that were on either side of the string which gave a larger "per string" magnetic field so regardless of how hard the string was plucked there was no running out of the field losing signal. This design of two independent pickups reverse wound to each other also gave 60 cycle hum cancellation while retaining the clarity and transparency of a single coil without phase cancellation. Standard with Alnico V polepieces and black covers this is the real thing!
